Eigobar is designed to help you listen to and understand a foreign language, The video clips are on average 30 seconds long. The difficulty level is based on the amount of text, the accent of the speakers, the words used, the amount of slang, the speed of their talking.
The video clips use everyday english used in english speaking countries around the world. The video clips are chosen because they are easy to remember.
The language lessons also give you the chance to understand cultural differences between Japan and the native English speakers. Since the clips are taken from many countries around the world it is possible to understand cultural differences.
After clicking on one of the pictures in the main screen you will be taken to a language lesson.
The language lesson screen is split into several parts as shown in the diagram below.
One the left hand side is the video player. You can start and stop the video clip by clicking either on the main small video screen or the small play button on the bottom of the left hand side.
Below the video screen is a picture link called "I have a question". This link will take you to additional language material and where you can ask a question about the video clip and access a set of frequently asked questions. This service is only available to members.

At the right hand side is the script showing what is being said in the video clip. Some of the words and phrases are underlined. If you move your mouse cursor over the text, an explanation in Japanese is shown.
Below the script is a short explanation about the video clip. A more detailed explanation is provided through the membership service. Below that explanation is an explanation about the featured company shown in the video clip.
